The Private Estate Aegean Sea / Cyclades Lifestyle / Idyllic Landscape

The Wheatfield Estate extends to two hectares, overlooking a hidden paradise – a fertile and scenic agricultural valley carved over millennia into terraced fields planted with wheat and olive trees ‐ and the Aegean Sea beyond.

The Wheatfield EstateFollowing Agricultural Traditions

The islanders cherish their agricultural traditions; from the estate you will see villagers traveling along ancient footpaths to work distant fields. We preserve these traditions within the estate. The estate produces barley and wheat, has not one but three olive orchards, a vineyard with vine species endemic to Sifnos that in a good year produces 200 liters of very drinkable wine, fig trees, fruit groves, a lavender patch, and a herb garden. We encourage our guests to consume the produce grown on the estate.

The estate has spectacular views over the dazzlingly blue Aegean Sea to the islands of Paros and Naxos in the distance. The terraces of the ancient valley provide a foreground to the serene water; on windy days, the waving wheat stalks echo the waves on the sea. At night, the sea becomes iridescent, lit only by the light of the silver moon.

The Wheatfield EstateIdyllic landscape

Framed by mountains and sea, the two‐hectare private estate contains olive orchards, a working vineyard, and wheat fields. The estate overlooks a hidden fertile valley where, over thousands of years, the islanders have carved out terraced fields planted with gnarled olive trees. Although Sifnos has grown rich from tourism, the islanders still tend these fields, just as their ancestors did. The only sounds you will likely hear are the tinkling of goat bells and the chirping of the birds that soar above the valley.

The Wheatfield EstateCyclades lifestyle

From Spring to Fall, life revolves around the expansive outdoor living and entertaining areas and the 60 square meter pool. The deck provides ample space for al‐fresco dining or to hide away with a good book. The totally private master suite opens on to four terraces offering dramatic 360‐degree views to the sea, the estate, and mountains. The area is purely agricultural, with animals grazing peacefully in the surrounding fields. At night, the outdoor terraces and cloudless sky provides excellent stargazing opportunities. A one‐kilometer‐long on‐property looping walking trail enables guests to explore the estate and take in the surrounding scenery. The back gate of the property accesses a scenic hiking trail that passes through the valley to the ancient Church of Agios Sostis at the water’s edge.

The Wheatfield EstateThe Design

The architecture and interior are design tributes to Cycladic heritage, modernist spirits, the Mediterranean lifestyle, sustainable principles, and contemporary luxury hospitality standards. While the exterior of the building complies with strict Cyclades architectural style guidelines to preserve the island’s historical Cycladic character, the spatial configuration of the house reflects the contemporary ideal of openness and connectivity and the interior design features bold sculptural form of architectural elements, accompanied with free flow of space and sightlines.
